Live Music with The Asheville Jazz Collective

January 21, 2024 @ 2:00 pm - 5:00 pm

About the band:

Drummer, composer Alan Hall founded Asheville Jazz Collective (AJC) in 2021 as a vehicle for composing and collaboration with musical peers in Asheville. He moved here from the San Francisco Bay area where he played with jazz luminaries Ed Simon, Art Lande, Geoffrey Keezer, Lee Konitz, Ernie Watta, Paul McCandless and Kai Eckhardt.

Along with pianist Bill Bares and bassist Josef Butts, he co-hosted the Asheville Jazz Workshop weekly jam session at Archetype Brewery which is where he met the other musicians that make up AJC.
Now, with a revolving crew of 9 musicians, the band performs a monthly gig at Little Jumbo to full houses. Besides the core piano trio, this eclectic group consists of oboe, violin, vibes, reeds and acoustic guitar. Instrumentation varies from gig to gig, and a variety of moods, styles and aesthetics is the goal of each performance.
