Jon Cox Band

June 12 @ 6:00 pm - 8:00 pm

Bio

When you think sounds of trains, mountain music mixed with honky-tonk and smooth vocals, you think of Jon Cox.  A native to the Asheville area, Jon grew up in the small town of Candler, North Carolina where he sang hymns in church and in middle school he took a guitar class and began to learn simple chords.  He remembers Mr. Nolan, his guitar teacher, being one of his earliest influences playing songs like “Take Me Home, Country Roads” and “Joy to the World”.  Later in life, Jon worked as a karaoke DJ and then answered an ad for a singer position in a Johnny Cash tribute band where he honed his guitar skills.  Jon went on to sing for three bands over an eight year period and currently has his own band called The Jon Cox Band.

Honky Tonk

Honky Tonk Thursday is a free music series showcasing root-tootin’ honky tonk, western and country bands from near and far!  Free and open to guests of all ages (unless noted otherwise), grab your crew and two-step on over to Highland.

In warmer months, live music is held on the scenic Meadow stage where camp chairs and blankets are welcome. Coolers and outside beverages are not permitted. Shows are rain or shine – if the skies don’t cooperate, the music moves indoors to the Taproom where we’ve got plenty of room for you to boogie down!
