Bayou Diesel

Meet Bayou Diesel, based in Asheville, NC, and performing Lousiana style cajun & zydeco
dance music throughout the SouthEast since 2003. Fronted by accordionist Steve Burnside,
Bayou Diesel has been jamming two-steps, waltzes, and New Orleans favorites to dancers for
over 20 years. As a small town band, the group has played nearly every major festival event in
North Carolina, with two appearances each at Merlefest, Asheville’s Downtown After 5 and
Charlotte’s Cajun/Zydeco fest.

The 2025 line-up features David Zoll on lead guitar, Renee Hopkins on guitar and rubboard, Lois
Jolly on bass, Sam Webber on drums, and veteran organizer-lead vocalist Steve Burnside on 1-
row & 3-row button accordions. Our pal Darryl Cornell will sit on electric guitar & rubboard.
With cajun French lyrics and 3 part harmony vocals, Bayou Diesel is the complete dance
package. So hot you can heat your gumbo at their dance events. Laissez les bon temps rouler!
