Join us in supporting Brian Ivey, Highland’s Retail Manager, and his wife Shea as they travel to the Polish border with Ukraine to volunteer with World Central Kitchen. We will donate a portion of the proceeds from all beer and merch purchases from Wed 4/27 – Tues 5/3 to raise funds for their trip.
Brian studied in Krakow, Poland in college and has returned to the region over the years to stay connected with friends. Those friends are now involved in supporting Ukrainian refugees and their stories in recent weeks stirred him to action. Brian and Shea were accepted for a 7-day volunteer commitment to feed Ukrainian refugees with World Central Kitchen in Przemysl, a town in southeastern Poland on the Ukrainian border. They leave for Poland on Friday, May 6th.
About World Central Kitchen: Founded in 2010 by Chef José Andrés, World Central Kitchen (WCK) is first to the frontlines, providing meals in response to humanitarian, climate, and community crises while working to build resilient food systems with locally led solutions. WCK has served more than 70 million fresh meals to people impacted by natural disasters and other crises around the world. WCK’s Resilience Programs strengthen food and nutrition security by training chefs and school cooks; advancing clean cooking practices; and awarding grants to farms, fisheries, and small food businesses while also providing educational and networking opportunities.
