Barrel Aged Flight at Highland Brewing

It’s that time of year y’all, dark beer season! In celebration of the art of balancing wood and time we will have a special curated Barrel aged Flight available Saturday only in the Annex.
First in our flight we have a Barrel-aged Baltic Porter. This Ported started out as a collaboration with one of our top malt suppliers, Briess. Cold-Fermented with lager yeast and then aged for almost a year in Wild Turkey Barrels. Smooth and roasty, with a balanced oaky sweetness, this beer will warm you from the inside out.
Next is Barrel-aged Black Watch from 2020. Every year we take some of this fan favorite and age it for about a year in barrels, which not only increases the alcohol content but accentuates the sweet chocolate notes. Decadent, rich, and smooth with subtle bourbon character this is an excellent dessert beer.
Also on the flight is 2019’s Barrel-aged Black Watch. Pulled from the archives to give you a vertical tasting comparison.
Last but not least Barrel-aged Black Watch with raspberries. We pulled a bit of last year’s barrel-aged version and enhanced it with a subtle natural raspberry flavoring. The fruitiness adds a bright top note and reminds us of a chocolate raspberry truffle!
