Are you tired of the knee-jerk polarization and politicization of seemingly every tough issue that we face as a nation?  Or, are you frustrated over the lack of positive forums for people of differing political persuasions and perspectives to find common ground when confronting these issues?  If so, we’d like to invite you to a special event at the Highland Brewing Event Center on August 10th at 6-9pm. The program will seek to find common ground between veterans and others interested in national security and those who are concerned about the potential impact of climate change on our nation and world.

The evening will center around a screening of the 2016 documentary, The Burden, an award-winning film describing the U.S. military’s leadership role in reducing dependance on fossil fuels and the impact on national security.  The event will include a social time, introduction and viewing of the film, followed by a discussion and Q&A with a panel of experts.  Panelists will include Major General Rick Devereaux, USAF (Ret.), former Director of Operational Planning and Strategy for the U.S. Air Force; Mr. Glenn Kerr, Director of the American Association of State Climatologists, and Ms. Steffi Rauch, lead organizer for the Asheville chapter of Citizens’ Climate Lobby.

Admission is free for veterans and their families, $5-10 for everyone else.  Highland beer and food trucks will, of course, be available.  Please pass this invitation to your friends, and come join us on August 10th.
