Mike Rhodes Fellowship plays a free, live show in the meadow at Highland Brewing Company located in Asheville, NC.The Fellowship is a collective, creative endeavor curated by drummer Mike Rhodes that features a different line up of Asheville's most talented musicians for each performance. The lineup has now solidified over the years to have guitarist Mike Barnes as a constant fixture amongst the revolving cast and they play tunes from the classic fusion era along with jams from the Allman Brothers and Frank Zappa as a launching point for their musical exploration.
Each performance is a search for spontaneous creativity within the chemistry of each group. The goal is to find the place in the middle of the compass where north, south, east and west become one and magic happens. Featured musicians thus far have included Michael Barnes, Shane Pruitt, Wood Wood, Marcel Anton, Duane Simpson, Billy Cardine, Nicky Sanders, Andre Casey Cramer, Jay Sanders, Jake Wolf, Tony Black, Michael Hynes, Jake O'Connor, Eli Cramer, Zack Page, JW Powell, Ryan Burns, Jamar Woods, Aaron Price and Matt Smith.
Drummer Mike Rhodes has been a staple of the AVL and WNC music scene for over 20 years now, whether it was backing Bo Diddley at Be Here Now in the early 90s or playing with the Blue Rags when they were touring nationally on Sub Pop Records. He has gone on to play live and record over 30 CDs with local artists including Underhill Rose, Kellin Watson, Drug Money, Aaron Woody Wood and many more, as well as playing on international releases by Lissie, Georgia Fair, The King Bees and Lotte Mullan. In the last few years he has also played percussion with acts Snake Oil Medicine Show, Acoustic Syndicate, Lyric, Truth & Salvage Company and Old Crowe Medicine Show. His experiences make him well suited to pull together the talent with the chemistry to make magic happen on stage. - visit website -
