SUMMARY:Matt Smith’s Well-Crafted Music Series with Lyndsay Pruett feat. Rick Cooper and Zach Smith
DESCRIPTION:Lyndsay Pruett\nLyndsay Pruett is a freelance fiddle player/teacher in Asheville\, NC. She belongs to several bands and ensembles because she enjoys the way different songwriters and musicians draw her voice out in new ways. Lyndsay has spent her 28 years as a violinist/fiddler developing an individual voice on the violin. She manages to compliment others’ music and add striking color to the music through her improvisations and textural playing. Making the violin speak as a voice is of utmost priority for Lyndsay\, yet she knows how to play in a way that guides the listener’s ear to what is important in a song and support the musicians around her. \nLyndsay grew up in Jacksonville\, FL\, daughter to Steve Pruett\, an accomplished bluegrass mandolin and guitar player. However\, when he convinced Lyndsay to pick up the violin at age 10 (she had previously been an accomplished competitive clogger)\, it was not bluegrass that she wished to learn\, but classical music. She pursued a fervent study of classical music\, and became the concertmistress of the School of the Arts orchestra and later on\, the Jacksonville Symphony Youth Orchestra. It was through the JSYO that she won two consecutive concerto competitions. The second one\, at age 17\, awarded her the honor of performing the 1st movement of Mendelssohn’s Violin Concerto in e minor with the Jacksonville Symphony\, and remains one of the fondest musical memories of her young life.

SUMMARY:The Third Floor
DESCRIPTION:Bio\nThe Third Floor is an indie rock/folk band from Columbia\, South Carolina. The band\, composed mostly of Seniors at the University of South Carolina\, was formed in their dorm rooms on the third floor of the Capstone building in Late 2021. The band members originally bonded over a shared love of classic rock acts like Tom Petty\, Johnny Cash\, The Beatles\, and other more present-day artists such as Mt Joy\, The Backseat Lovers\, and The Stews. With Ryan writing most of the band’s originals with only the help of his Washburn Acoustic guitar\, the band has many softer pieces with a rock twist\, but by no means do they shy away from letting loose to put on an electric\, high-energy performance. Over the last 3 years\, the band has built up a repertoire of originals and have released 6 singles so far. They plan to release their first album within the next year. In October of 2023\, the band performed for 500+ students to open for COIN at the University’s annual Cockstock festival. Since then they have had played all around Columbia at venues such as Jake’s\, Breakers\, New Brookland Tavern\, The Koger Center. They have also branched out to other cities in the southeast including Charleston SC\, Charlotte NC\, Raleigh NC\, Knoxville TN\, Lexington VA.
