Summary

FLSA Status: Full-Time Hourly, Non-exempt
Reports to: Marketing Manager
Location: Asheville, NC

Essential Job Functions

Public Relations

·         Write and distribute press releases for both industry and consumer-facing publications

·         Create and foster relationships with contacts at key industry and consumer-facing publications

·         Schedule and facilitate all interviews, podcasts, video features, news coverage, etc.

·         Seek out new arenas for promotion

·         Create weekly eNewsletter for media partners to stay connected to happenings at the brewery

·         Create monthly eNewsletter for Highland customers

·         Analyze open rates and make recommendations for improvements

·         Record and quantify media coverage monthly using Meltwater software

·         Work with Meltwater customer support for continuous improvement in software functionality

·         Create and maintain press kit

·         Work with Marketing Manager to generate reports for CEO and the company

·         Work with Social Media Specialist on how to leverage coverage generated

 

Communication

·         Monthly Distributor eNewsletter with tools, updates, accolades and news

·         Monthly employee update from marketing with new releases, event dates, and media coverage

·         Communicate across departments about specialty beer releases, donation events, and all relevant details

·         Build internal brand engagement

 

Community Outreach

·         Collaborate with Marketing Manager and Marketing & Graphic Design Coordinator on all beer and merchandise giveaways for donations, sponsorships, and marketing opportunities

·         Foster and maintain relationships with Highland’s key community partners

·         Ensure that partnerships are mutually beneficial and on brand

·         Collaborate with Social Media Specialist to build awareness around Highland’s community efforts

 

Qualifications

Education:

·         Bachelor’s degree or beyond in Public Relations, Communications, Marketing, Business Administration

 

Experience:

·         Minimum 1-3 years in communications, public relations, and media outreach required

·         Beer knowledge is a plus, love of beer is a must

·         Work within the non-profit sector is a plus

·         Some experience in graphics software is a plus

 

Specific Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

·         Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite

·         Proficiency in both Windows and Apple operating systems

·         Ability to collaborate across teams

·         Excellent written and verbal communication skills

·         Have experience in all social media platforms

·         Be comfortable generating content in multiple formats

·         Attention to detail

·         Ability to work independently and across departments

·         No job is to small, positive mental attitude and self-motivated!

 

Working Conditions:

·         Ability to stand for long periods of time and do physically demanding work is required

·         Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. is required

·         Willingness to work on evenings and weekends is required

·         Overnight travel on occasion
