Meet your host, Hope! Born Deaf, Hope didn’t learn ASL until her teens but despite the late start, she is an accomplished educator having taught science at the NC School for the Deaf, ASL at Blue Ridge Community College, as well as private instruction and tutoring.
As an A.C. Reynolds graduate with degrees in Biology and Sociology from Salem College and a Master’s in Sign Language Education from Gallaudet University Hope has a rich educational background and this Spring she will begin pursuing an Ed.D. in Deaf Studies from Lamar University.
Hope is a strong advocate for the Deaf community and is serving her second term on the NC Council for the Deaf and Hard of Hearing. When she is not practicing yoga or training for her first marathon Hope loves solving word puzzles, hiking with her partner Brian, playing with their animals (2 dogs & cat) or traveling to visit her two adult children.
